Vintage German ‘Hummel Hamburg’ Copper Figurine

$75

Category:

17cm high
Souvenir from Hamburg, Germany, dating back to the 19th century, when (as the story goes) there was a rotten old aquifer named Hans Hummel, which the children would follow and make fun of, calling his last name. He would turn around and call them Mors (German for buttocks!). This became a traditional Hamburg greeting used by many, including soldiers, during the war. It is not used that much nowadays, except on the football field. A beautiful figure as a gift can decorate a home or office.
