20th Century ‘Criterion’ Victorian Inkwell

This antique Victorian inkwell is stamped “Criterion S. & D. B. Made in England,” with S. & D. referring to Setten & Durward and the “B” indicating Birmingham manufacture. It features a thick moulded clear glass base with a pressed sunburst starburst pattern on the underside, paired with a hinged brass flip-top lid, reflecting the practical decorative detailing typical of late Victorian to early Edwardian deskware.
